Hadith on the Eid on the 9th of Rabbi-ul-Awwal

قال السيد ابن طاوس - ره - في كتاب زوايد الفوائد: روى ابن أبي العلاء الهمداني الواسطي ويحيي بن محمد بن حويج البغدادي قالا: تنازعنا في ابن الخطاب واشتبه علينا أمره، فقصدنا جميعا أحمد بن إسحاق القمي صاحب أبي الحسن العسكري عليه السلام بمدينة قم، فقرعنا عليه الباب فخرجت علينا صبية عراقية فسئلناها عنه، فقالت: هو مشغول بعيده، فانه يوم عيد، فقلت: سبحان الله إنما الأعياد أربعة للشيعة: الفطر، والأضحى، والغدير، والجمعة، قالت: فان أحمد ابن إسحاق يروي عن سيده أبي الحسن علي بن محمد العسكري عليه السلام أن هذا اليوم يوم عيد، وهو أفضل الأعياد عند أهل البيت عليهم السلام وعند مواليهم، قلنا فاستأذني عليه وعرفيه مكاننا قالا: فدخلت عليه فعرفته فخرج علينا وهو مستور بمئزر يفوح مسكا، وهو يمسح وجهه، فأنكرنا ذلك عليه. فقال: لا عليكما فاني اغتسلت للعيد قلنا أولا: هذا يوم عيد ؟ قال: نعم وكان يوم التاسع من شهر ربيع الأول، قالا فأدخلنا داره وأجلسنا. ثم قال: إني قصدت مولاي أبي الحسن عليه السلام كما قصدتماني بسر من رأى فاستأذنت عليه فأذن لي، فدخلت عليه السلام في مثل هذا اليوم، وهو يوم التاسع من شهر ربيع الأول فرأيت سيدنا عليه وعلى آبائه السلام قد أوعز إلى كل واحد من خدمه أن يلبس ما يمكنهم من الثياب الجدد، وكان بين يديه مجمرة يحرق العود فيها بنفسه فقلت له: بآبائنا وامهاتنا يا ابن رسول الله هل تجدد لأهل البيت في هذا اليوم فرح ؟ فقال عليه السلام: وأي يوم أعظم حرمة عند أهل البيت منهذا اليوم التاسع من شهر ربيع الأول. ولقد حدثني أبي عليه السلام أن حذيفة بن اليمان دخل في مثل هذا اليوم على جدي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله قال حذيفة: رأيت أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام وولديه عليهما السلام يأكلون مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وهو يتبسم في وجوههم، ويقول: لولديه الحسن والحسين عليهما السلام كلا هنيئا لكما بركة هذا اليوم وسعادته، فانه اليوم الذي يهلك الله فيه عدوه وعدو جدكما، وإنه اليوم الذي يقبل الله أعمال شيعتكما ومحبيكما، واليوم الذي يصدق فيه قول الله جل جلاله " فتلك بيوتهم خاوية بما ظلموا " واليوم الذي نسف فيه فرعون أهل البيت وظالمهم وغاصبهم حقهم، واليوم الذي يقدم الله إلى ما عملوا من عمل فجعلناه هباء منثورا. قال حذيفة: فقلت: يا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وفي امتك وأصحابك من ينتهك هذه المحارم ؟ قال: نعم يا حذيفة جبت من المنافقين يرتاس عليهم، ويستعمل في امتي الرؤيا، ويحمل على عاتقه درة الخزي، ويصد الناس عن سبيل الله يحرف كتاب الله ويغير سنتي ويشتمل على إرث ولدي، وينصب نفسه علما، و يتطاول على إمامه من بعدى، ويستخلب أموال الناس من غير حلها، وينفقها في غير طاعة الله، ويكذبني ويكذب أخي ووزيري، ويحسد ابنتي عن حقها، فتدعو الله عزوجل عليه فيستجيب دعاءها في مثل هذا اليوم. قال حذيفة: فقلت: يا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله فادع ربك ليهلكه في حياتك، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: يا حذيفة لا احب أن أجترئ على قضاء الله عزوجل لما قد سبق في علمه، لكن سألت الله عزوجل أن يجعل لليوم الذي يهلكه فيه فضيلة على سائر الأيام، ليكون ذلك سنة يستن بها أحبائي، وشيعة أهل بيتي ومحبيهم فأوحى الله إلى جل من قائل يا محمد إنه كان في سابق علمي أن تمسك وأهل بيتك محن الدنيا وبلاؤها، وظلم المنافقين والغاصبين من عبادي، من نصحت لهم و خانوك، ومحضت لهم وغشوك، وصافيتهم وكشحوك، وأرضيتهم وكذبوك، وجنيتهم وأسلموك، فانى بحولي وقوتي وسلطاني لأفتحن على من يغصب بعدك عليا وصيك حقا ألف باب من النيران من أسفل الفيلوق ولاصلينه وأصحابه قعرا يشرف عليه إبليس آدم فيلعنه، ولأجعلن ذلك المنافق عبرة في القيامة كفراعنة الأنبياء وأعداء الدين في المحشر، ولأحشرنهم وأولياءهم وجميع الظلمة والمنافقين إلى جهنم زرقا كالحين، أذلة حيارى نادمين، ولاضلنهم فيها أبد الابدين يا محمد إن مرافقك ووصيك في منزلتك يمسه البلوى، من فرعونه وغاصبه الذي يجترئ ويبدل كلامي ويشرك بى ويصد الناس عن سبيلي وينصب من نفسه عجلا لامتك ويكفر بي في عرشي إني قد أمرت ملائكتي في سبع سمواتي وشيعتك ومحبيك أن يعيدوا في اليوم الذي أهلكته فيه، وأمرتهم أن ينصبوا كرسي كرامتي بازاء البيت المعمور ويثنوا علي ويستغفرون لشيعتك ولمحبيك من ولد آدم يا محمد وأمرت الكرام الكاتبين أن يرفعوا القلم عن الخلق في ذلك اليوم، ولا يكتبون شيئا من خطاياهم كرامة لك ولوصيك. يا محمد إني قد جعلت ذلك اليوم يوم عيد لك ولأهل بيتك، ولمن يتبعهم من المؤمنين وشيعتهم، وآليت على نفسي بعزتي وجلالي وعلوي في مكاني لأحبون من يعيد في ذلك اليوم محتسبا في ثواب الحافين ولأشفعنه في ذوى رحمه ولأزيدن في ماله إن وسع على نفسه وعياله ولأعتقن من النار في كل حول في مثل ذلك اليوم آلافا من شيعتكم ومحبيكم ومواليكم، ولأجعلن سعيهم مشكورا وذنبهم مغفورا، وعملهم مقبولا. قال حذيفة: ثم قام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله فدخل بيت ام سلمة رضي الله عنها ورجعت عنه وأنا غير شاك في أمر الثاني حتى رأيت بعد وفاة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وأتيح الشر وعاود الكفر، وارتد عن الدين، وشمر للملك، وحرف القرآن،.وأحرق بيت الوحي، وابتدع السنن وغيرها وغير الملة ونقل السنة، ورد شهادة أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام، وكذب فاطمة بنت رسول الله، واغتصب فدك منها وأرضى اليهود والنصارى والمجوس، وأسخط قرة عين المصطفى ولم يرضها، وغير السنن كلها، ودبر على قتل أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام وأظهر الجور، وحرم ما حلله الله و حلل ما حرم الله وأبقى الناس أن يحتذوا النقد من جلود الابل، ولطم وجه الزكية عليها السلام، وصعد منبر رسول الله صلى الله عيله وآله ظلما وعدوانا وافترى على أمير المؤمنين وعانده وسفه رأيه قال حذيفة:فاستجاب الله دعوة مولاي عليه أفضل الصلاة و - السلام على ذلك المنافق، وجرى كما جرى قتله على يد قاتله رحمة الله على قاتله. قال حذيفة: فدخلت على أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام لما قتل ذلك المنافق لاهنئه بقتله ومصيره إلى ذلك الخزي والانتقام، فقال أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام: يا حذيفة تذكر اليوم الذي دخلت فيه على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وأنا وسبطاه نأكل معه ؟ فدلك على فضل هذا اليوم، دخلت فيه عليه؟ فقلت: نعم يا أخا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله فقال عليه السلام هو والله هذا اليوم الذي أقر الله تبارك وتعالى فيه عيون أولاد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وإني لأعرف لهذا اليوم اثنين وسبعين اسما. قال حذيفة: فقلت: يا أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام إني أحب أن تسمعني أسماء هذا اليوم التاسع من شهر ربيع الأول، فقال عليه السلام: يا حذيفة هذا يوم الاستراحة، و يوم تنفيس الهم والكرب، والغدير الثاني، ويوم تحطيط الأوزار، ويوم الحبوة ويوم رفع القلم، ويوم الهدى، ويوم العقيقة، ويوم البركة، ويوم الثارات وعيد الله الأكبر، يوم يستجاب فيه الدعوات، ويوم الموقف الأعظم، ويوم التولية ويوم الشرط، ويوم نزع الأسوار، ويوم ندامة الظالمين، ويوم انكسار الشيعة ويوم نفي الهموم، ويوم الفتح، ويوم العرض، ويوم القدرة، ويوم التصفيح، و يوم فرح الشيعة، ويوم التروية، ويوم الانابة، ويوم الزكوة العظمى، ويوم الفطر الثاني، ويوم سبيل الله تعالى، ويوم التجرع بالريق، ويوم الرضا، وعيد أهل البيت عليهم السلام، ويوم ظفرت به بنو إسرائيل، ويوم قبل الله أعمال الشيعة، و يوم تقديم الصدقة، ويوم طلب الزيادة، ويوم قتل المنافق، ويوم الوقت المعلوم ويوم سرور أهل البيت عليهم السلام ويوم المشهود، ويوم يعض الظالم على يديه، ويوم هدم الضلالة، ويوم النيلة، ويوم الشهادة، ويوم التجاوز عن المؤمنين، ويوم المستطاب، ويوم ذهاب سلطان المنافق، ويوم التسديد، ويوم يستريح فيه المؤمنون ويوم المباهلة، ويوم المفاخرة، ويوم قبول الاعمال، ويوم النحيل، ويوم النحيلة، ويوم الشكر، ويوم نصرة المظلوم، ويوم الزيارة، ويوم التودد، و يوم النحيب ويوم الوصول، ويوم البركة، ويوم كشف البدع، ويوم الزهد في الكبائر، ويوم المنادي، ويوم الموعظة، ويوم العبادة، ويوم الاسلام. قال حذيفة: فقمت من عند أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام وقلت في نفسي: لو لم أدرك من أفعال الخير ما أرجو به الثواب إلا حب هذا اليوم، لكان مناي. قال محمد بن أبي العلا الهمداني ويحيى بن جريح: فقام كل واحد منا نقبل رأس أحمد بن إسحاق وقلنا: الحمد لله الذي ما قبضنا حتى شرفنا بفضل هذا اليوم المبارك، وانصرفنا من عنده، وعيدنا فيه، فهو عيد الشيعة تم الخبر


Syed Ibn Tawoos has written in his book ‘Zawaaid Al Fawaaid’, narrating from Ibn Abi Al A’la Al Hamadani Al Wasti and Yahya Ibn Muhammad Bin Huwayja Al Baghdadi who said: ‘We were discussing about Ibn Al Khattabla and this matter confused us. We all decided to go to Ahmad Bin Is’haq Al Qummi, a companion of Abi Hassan Al Askariasws, in the city of Qum. We knocked on his door and an Iraqi girl came out (to greet us). We asked her about him. She replied, ‘He was busy in celebrating the day of Eid. We replied to her: ‘Glory be to Allah! Surely there are four Eids for the Shiites – Al Fitr, and Al Azha, and Al Ghadeer and Al Jum’a.’ She answered: ‘Surely Ahmad Bin Is’haq has narrated from his master Abi Al Hassan Bin Muhammad Al Askariasws, indeed, this day is the day of Eid, and this is better than all the Eids near Ahl Ul Baytasws and their slaves.’

We asked her: ‘Seek permission for us to enter and inform him (Ahmad) about us’. She went inside and informed him. He came out looking happy, scented with musk, wiping his face with an apron. We asked him about this. He said, ‘Don’t you know it? I have bathed for this Eid.’ We asked him to first (tell us) if it was a day of Eid? He replied, ‘Yes! This is the ninth day of Rabbi Ul Awwal.’ He invited us inside and asked us to sit down and then he said, ‘I requested the slave of Abi Al Hassan Al Askariasws secretly to seek permission which was given and I went to himasws on a day like this one, the ninth day of the month of Rabbi-ul-Awwal and I saw that our Masterasws had instructed each of his servants to dress up in new clothes, and Imamasws had a ‘Bachur’ burner in his hand. I said to himasws, ‘May our fathers and our mothers be in your sevice, O son of the Messenger of Allahazwj! Is this a new day of happiness for the Ahlul Baytasws?’ Imamasws replied: ‘Which day is more sanctimonious with the Ahlul Baytasws than this ninth day of the month of Rabbi-ul-Awwal?

My fatherasws had narrated to me that Huzayfa al Yamani went to my ancestor the Holy Prophetsaww on a day like this. Huzayfa saw the Commander of the Faithfulasws along with this two sonsasws partaking a meal with the Holy Prophetsaww and they had smiles on their faces and saying to his two sons Hassanasws and Husaynasws congratulations and blessings for this day of happiness, for on this day Allahazwj has destroyed Hisazwj enemies and the enemies of your grandfathersaww. On this day Allahazwj accepts the deeds of both of your Shiites and those who love youasws both, and regarding this day the Allahazwj‘s Words have been verified: So those are their houses fallen down because they were unjust (27:52). And on this day the house of Pharaoh was destroyed due to usurpation and injustice. And this is the day for which (Allahazwj Says): And We will proceed to what they have done of deeds, so We shall render them as scattered floating dust (25:23).

Huzayfa says, he asked, ‘O Messenger of Allahsaww! What if your followers or your companions were to violate these sanctities?’ Hesaww replied: ‘Surely, O Huzayfa! The hypocrites will come to my followers, try to distort their vision and bear the shame, prevent the people from Allahasws’s way, alter the Book of Allahazwj, change mysaww Sunnah and mysaww legacy, promote their own selves, and will govern over their Imamasws after me, eat up people’s wealth and without trying to resolve their issues, will not spend (nation’s wealth) in the way of Allahazwj, they will falsify my brother and vicegerentasws, will envy my daughterasws over her rights.

I pray to Allahazwj to answer the prayers (of those who adhere to usasws) on a day like this.’ Huzayfa said that he asked, ‘O Messenger of Allahsaww! Why don't you pray to yoursaww Lordazwj to destroy all of themla during yoursaww lifetime.’ The Holy Prophetsaww said: ‘O Huzayfa! Isaww do not like to give precedence to the Ordinance of Allahazwj which is already in Hisazwj Knowledge, but I ask Allahazwj to make this day sanctimonious over the rest of the days and to make this a Sunnah for my loved ones, and the Shiites of my Familyasws and those that love them. Allahazwj has revealed that O Muhammadsaww, he is like the one who has adhered to your Familyasws, despite the trials and afflictions from the injustices of the hypocrites and the usurpers from among the people.

They (the hypocrites) will advise people to betray yousaww, cheat yousaww, doubt yousaww, falsify yousaww and stop others from submitting to yousaww. Iazwj, by my Power and Might and my Kingship, will open, for those who hate Aliasws your true vicegerent, a thousand doors of fire from its hottest point, which lies at its bottom, and keep them together with Ibleesla and be cursed eternally by people, this is what I have destined for hypocrites and on the Day of Judgment Iazwj will raise them among the deniers of Prophets and enemies of religion, and dispatch them as well as their followers, all the unjust and hypocrites to Hell.

O Muhammadsaww! Yoursaww friends and your vicegerentasws will not be affected from the Pharaoh (of yoursaww nation) and usurpers and who dared to change my Statements and associated with Meazwj and try to stop people from the right path, and established themselves like the calf for your people and disbelieved Myazwj chosen oneasws. I have ordered Myazwj angels of the seven heavens and yoursaww Shiites and those who love yousaww to celebrate this Eid in which Iazwj have destroyed (yoursaww enemies). And Iazwj have Ordered them to establish Myazwj honourable Throne in Bayt al Mamoor and seek forgiveness for yoursaww Shiites and all those who love yousaww from the children of Adamas.

O Muhammadsaww! And I have Ordered the Noble Writers (Angels) to hold their pens on the onset of this day, but don’t write any of their sins, in the honour of yousaww and your vicegerentasws. O Muhammadsaww! Iazwj have made this day to be the day of Eid for yousaww and your Familyasws, your obedient believers and yoursaww Shiites. Iazwj have taken it upon Myself by My Honour, Glory and Highness in My Kingdom that whoever loves to celebrate Eid on this day Iazwj will increase their reward and intercede for them with My Mercy and increase their wealth and children, save them from the punishment of the fire on the Promised Day and forgive your Shiites and those that love yousaww and your slaves, Iazwj thank them, forgive their sins and accept their deeds.’

Huzayfa said that the Holy Prophetsaww then stood up and went to the room of Lady Umm Salmara. I returned back. I no longer had any doubt about the second matter (mischief of hypocrites) which I observed after the passing away of the Holy Prophetsaww; the mischief that took place, their return to disbelief and apostasy in religion, capturing the kingdom and altering the Quran. Setting fire to the house of revelation, making innovations in Sunnah and reporting the amended Sunnah, denying the witness of the Commander of the Faithfulasws, falsifying Fatimahasws - the daughter of the Messenger of Allahsaww and usurping the ‘Fadak’ from herasws, pleasings the Jews, Christians and the Magians, and enraging the apple of the eyes of Musatafasaww but still remaining unsatisfied. And (going even further with) trying to change all of the Sunnah and preparing to kill the Commander of the faithfulasws, treating himasws injustly, prohibiting the permissible of Allahazwj and turning the prohibitions into permissible. What they let for the people was the skin of the camel, and slapped the pure faceasws (Syedaasws), ascended the pulpit of the Messenger of Allahsaww, perpetrated injustice and was inimical and maligned the Commander of the Faithfulasws, while behaving foolishly in his (the first one) opinion.

Huzayfa said: ‘Allahazwj had answered the prayer of my masterasws, when the hypocritela (Thani) died of his injuries from his killer, may Allahazwj have mercy on his killer.’ Huzayfa says: On day, he went to the Commander of the Faithfulasws and congratulated himasws on the killing and the revenge (which was taken from hisasws enemies). The Commander of the Faithfulasws responded: ‘O Huzayfa! Remember you came to us on this day when I and my two sons were eating with the messenger of Allahsaww and you asked the importance of this day? I answered: ‘true, O brother of the Messenger of Allahsaww!’ Imamasws added: ‘By Allahazwj! This is the day that about which Allahazwj had Informed to the children of the Messenger of Allahsaww and I know seventy names of this day.’ Huzzayfa says, he asked: ‘O Commander of the Faithfulasws, I would love to hear the names of this ninth day of the month of Rabbi-ul-Awwal. Imamasws replied: O Huzayfa! These are the names:

Huzayfa says: ‘I got up from the Commander of the faithfulasws and said to myself – Whoever understands the good of the actions of this day will return with this towards rewards and love this day as is my wish.’

Abi Al A’la Al Hamadani and Yahya Bin Jareeh say (after listening to the above), we all stood up and kissed the forehead of Ahmad Bin is’haq and we said: ‘Praise be to Allahazwj that we did not die before learning the virtues of this blessed day.’ We left his residence, and this is our Eid and this is the Eid of Shiites.
