c) Political Arena :--
The place called ‘Saqifeh’ was a political event in Islam which changed the straight and firm path of Imamate. An event which achieved its goal only because of the dust of darkness which tyrants had made and the “ignorance” and “negligence” of many Muslims. Their ignorance of the Imam’s (AS) position, the basis of Guardianship in the society, and negligence of the strategies of the enemies for confronting the pure bases of beliefs and religions.
Salman’s awareness and active presence in the life of Imam Ali (AS), and Fatima’s (SA) was one of the Salman's prominent qualities of which the Prophet’s House was well aware and as a result they granted many responsibilities in the political arena. The day that Imam Ali (AS) had been taken to the mosque and forced to pay allegiance to the Khalif, Fatima (SA) looked at him and saw a man with his bare sword. He said: “If you don’t swear allegiance to Abubakr, I will sever your neck.”
Fatima (SA) returned to Abubakr and said: “O Abubakr! If you take my husband from me I swear by Allah that I will dishevel my hair, tear open my collar….I will complain and cry beside the tomb of my father. Be certain that the she-camel of Saleh wasn’t more precious to Allah than I am and its child wasn’t more precious than my children.”

After her threat, she took the hands of Hassan (AS) and Hussain (AS) to go to the tomb of the Prophet (SAW) to follow through with her threat. There were many people around Imam Ali (AS) but he called out to Salman and said:
“Salman! Find Fatima (SA). It's almost as though Medina is shaking. I swear to Allah that if Fatima (SA) dishevels her hair, tears her collar, and complains beside the tomb of the Prophet (SAW), there will be no chance for the people of Medina, and they will all be killed.”

Salman came to Fatima (SA) hastily and said frightenedly: “ O daughter of Muhammad! (SAW) Allah has appointed your father as a mercy for all the worlds. I request you to return home and not to curse these ignorant people.”
Fatima (SA) found Salman intelligent, honest, and trustworthy, and said” “I want to go beside my father’s tomb to dishevel my hair, tear my collar and complain to Allah.”

Finding her determined to do so, Salman introduced himself as “the Messenger of Imam” and said: “O Fatima! Ali (AS) sent me and asked me to tell you to return home and avoid putting a curse on these people” When she heard Imam Ali’s message, she changed her mind and returned home.”

Salman’s support for Fatima’s (SA) actions in order to defend Imam Ali (AS) was prevalent in different stages of their relationship. When the problem of age arose, Salman said:
“You appointed the eldest, but wronged your Prophet’s Household. If you had sworn allegiance to them, you would never have found even two people in disagreement with you.”

Even after the end of Saqifeh, Salman explicitly declared his opposition to the first successor and stood firmly beside the competent and pious successor of the Messenger of Allah.”

Salman because of his high level of insight and perception, he would constantly regret that Imam Ali (AS) was alive and people would not benefit from his presence.

d) Spiritual-Ethical Aspects :--
Conversations concerning provisions of the hereafter and the long lasting and permanent affects of efforts made in this world reveals another aspect of Fatima's (SA) relationship with Salman.
Before we referred to Salman’s presence in Imam Ali’s (AS) house and his help to Fatima (SA), let us now turn to spiritual-ethical aspect.
Salman says: “Once I saw Fatima (SA) wearing a shabby old veil. I was shocked and surprised. I said: “My God! The daughters of the kings of Iran and Caesar of Rome are sitting on golden thrones and wearing golden-woven clothes. And look! This is the daughter of the Messenger of Allah who is wearing no precious veils or beautiful clothes!” Fatima (SA) who found Salman a competent and pious man, said:
“O Salman! Allah has reserved beautiful clothes and golden thrones for us for the Day of Judgment.”

Here we will mention a narration by Salman's son Abdullah, He says:
“My father, Salman, said: ‘Ten days after the Prophet’s (SAW) death, I came outside and saw Imam Ali (AS) and he said: “O Salman! After the Prophet’s (SAW) death you treated us unkindly!” I answered: “O Abul-Hassan! How can I be oppressive to someone like you? The reason is that the pain of separation from the Messenger of Allah (SAW) kept me away!"
He said: “O Salman! Go to Fatima (SA). She is waiting eagerly to meet you. She wants to convey to you the gift which has been sent to her from Paradise.”
I went to meet her and she said: “You treated us unkindly and stayed away from us!”
I answered: “How can I treat you unkindly?”
Fatima (SA) said: “Sit down please! Listen carefully to what I want to tell you. Yesterday in the same place as we are now, I was sitting filled with the sorrow of the Prophet’s (SAW) separation and the end of divine revelations, when the door opened and three girls came towards me. I have never seen anybody as beautiful and perfumed as those three girls. I stood and asked: Are you from Medina or Mecca. They replied: “O the daughter of the Messenger of Allah! We aren’t terrestrial creatures. Allah has sent us from Paradise because we were very eager to meet you.”
I asked one of them, who seemed the oldest of them, what her name was. She said: “My name is Maghdoodeh and I am so called because Allah has created me for Meqdad.
I asked the other girl. What her name was. She answered: “My name is Zarreh and I am so called because Allah has created me for Abuzar.” I asked the third girl what her name was. She answered: “My name is Salma and I am so called since Allah has created me for your father’s freed slave, Salman. Then she gave me some heavenly dates which were whiter than snow and more perfumed than musk. Salman then said that Fatima (SA) gave me one of those dates and said:
“Tonight break your fast with this date and bring its seed for me tomorrow.” I took the date and left. Whomever I met would say: “O Salman! It seems that you smell of musk!” I answered: “Yes.”
That evening I broke my fast with that date, but it had no seed in it. The next morning I went to Fatima (SA) and said: “The date had no seed.” She replied: “How can it have a seed when it was from Heaven and Allah has planted its tree in (Dar-e- Islam) House of Peace. It was the reward of my day and night supplication: the supplication which I learned from my father and he had recommended that I recite it always.”

Last words
From the above mentioned we can learn much about the relationship between Hazrat Zahra (SA) and Salman Farsi. We have learnt about Salman's close relationship with the household of the Prophet (SAW) especially the household of Ali (AS) and Fatima (SA). Even though Fatima (SA) is quoted as saying that it is better for a woman not to be seen by a non-mahram man one can sense confidentiality and closeness in her relationship with Salman. Much can be learnt from such a relationship.
Fatima (SA) was an active assistant in the war-fronts aiding the injured soldiers. She was a strong defender of Wilayat using fiery words in the Prophet’s (SAW) Mosque in support of Imam Ali (AS).
Undoubted, her lifestyle can be a great example to all of mankind.
