Moharram, Ashura and this festival of the Martyrdom of Imam Hussain(a.s) is as intense as it can get.. and the Hyderabadi Shias celebrate Moharram with a fervour that has its own cultural peculiarity everyone wears black clothes for 2 months 8 days, and it is Majlis and Marsiyas ..and the Marsiyas too have a Hyderabadi flavour found no where else in India.

And every liitle child starts his Kama or forehead matam at a very singular young age, perhaps 6 months old.
